Juan Herrán-Alonso, David Winter, Alejandro Sanfeliciano and Luis Ángel Saúl have published a study in the Journal of Constructivist Psychology on integration indicators derived from repertory grids and laddering.
An online survey collected responses from 101 UK university students about their experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, combining grids, ladders and questionnaires on event integration and psychological well-being.
The results showed small associations between some indicators and better event integration or lower psychological distress. The hypotheses received partial support, while construct subjective importance did not show the expected results.
The findings contribute to research on how personal meanings relate to the processing of stressful experiences. The authors note limitations linked to online assessment and sample size. The observed associations do not establish that a technique itself produces clinical improvement.
