Conceptual illustration of presence and implication balance on two axes

Alejandro Sanfeliciano, Luis Ángel Saúl, Carlos Hurtado-Martínez and Luis Botella introduce PB Space in Axioms, a mathematical framework for analysing the centrality of personal constructs represented through fuzzy cognitive maps.

The model considers two complementary dimensions. Presence describes a construct’s overall connectivity within the network. Implication balance captures the difference between the influences it exerts and those it receives.

This representation helps examine different positions within a meaning system and explore the relationships people anticipate when considering change. Two highly connected constructs may play different roles depending on the direction of their influences.

The paper extends the mathematical tools associated with WimpGrid and provides a framework for research on personal meaning systems. Psychological interpretation must consider the content and context of each individual case.
