Alejandro Sanfeliciano, Luis Ángel Saúl and Luis Botella have published the Weighted Implication Grid (WimpGrid) methodological proposal in Frontiers in Psychology.
The tool uses a semi-structured interview in which people consider changes in relevant aspects of themselves and describe the consequences they anticipate in other dimensions. The direction and intensity of these relationships are recorded.
Graph theory represents constructs as nodes and implications as directed, weighted connections. This makes it possible to examine reciprocal relationships, cycles and points of tension within personal meaning systems.
WimpGrid extends Hinkle’s implication grid and offers a formal basis for quantitative analysis of individual networks. The article connects constructivist assessment with mathematical modelling of psychological change.
