The Spanish national radio (RTVE – Radio 5) has interviewed Olga C. Santos and Jon EchevarrÃa in the program Technology 5.0 about KUMITRON, the AI-based system that mixes drones and sensors to improve the practice of karate and predict the opponent’s movements in a fight. KUMITRON is being developed by Echeverria in his Computer Science studies at UNED under Dr. Santos supervision in the PhyUM research line related to Movement Monitoring, Psychomotor Learning and Artificial Intelligence applied to Martial Arts. In addition, there are two related press releases at NovaCiencia and Comunicación UNED. And it was also selected as a case of success of a UNED student at AULA 2021 (link to all presentations in Live Connect 2021). And disseminated to the general public at Madrid Science Week 2020.
To know more about KUMITRON, it has been accepted to be presented so far at several conferences this year: IUI 2021 as demo (paper and video), MAIEd 2021 workshop (paper), AIED 2021 as Interactive Event (paper and video), UMAP 2021 as late breaking results (paper, video and poster), and it is also showcased at the AIED website. In addition, it has been presented in the talk “Sport and AI” at the Center of AI in Ourense (text, video).
In addition, KUMITRON has been awarded with the Best Final Degree Project in eMadrid 2021 Awards. The journey started at October 2019 with the proposal for the Final Degree Project and the first stop to present on-going works was at AULA 2020 (min 1:51). A patent has also been requested.
