Javier Jiménez Dorado
Javier Jiménez Dorado is a social entrepreneur and co-founder of Aptent Soluciones, a technology and accessibility company with more than 10 years of experience whose mission is to make culture and education accessible to more people, particularly individuals with disabilities.
He holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and has a Master’s degree in Telemedicine and Bioengineering, as well as another Master’s degree in Accessibility for Smart City.
Before becoming an entrepreneur, he worked as a researcher at Carlos III University of Madrid and at the Spanish Centre for Subtitling and Audio Description (CESyA) for six years.
Through APTENT, he has promoted initiatives such as Accessible Theatre (Teatro Accesible), through which more than 2,000 performances have been adapted, enabling nearly 20,000 people with sensory disabilities and older adults to enjoy theatre on equal terms. This project received the CERMI Award in 2013.
APTENT also develops R&D and technology projects aimed at removing communication barriers, including solutions such as the STARTIT software and the COPLA platform.
