Juan Ignacio Martínez Pastor

Juan Ignacio Martínez Pastor es Profesor Titular de Sociología en el Departamento de Sociología II (Estructura Social) de la Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED). Es licenciado en Sociología por la Universidad Complutense y Doctor en Sociología con Premio Extraordinario por la UNED. Aparte de su actividad en la universidad, durante 2012 y 2013 dirigió el Departamento de Investigación del Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS).

Sus áreas de investigación más recientes son la estratificación social, el empleo y el capital erótico. También ha escrito obras divulgativas sobre cómo interpretar los datos y las estadísticas sociales. Sus investigaciones han sido publicadas, entre otras revistas, en European Sociological Review, Demographic Research, International Journal of Comparative Sociology, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Revista Española de Investigaciones Sociológicas o la Revista Internacional de Sociología.

Ha participado en 10 proyectos de investigación. Actualmente es investigador principal del proyecto “Reducir el paro estructural en España: formación y empleo, costes laborales, migraciones, Estado del Bienestar y familia”, concedido por el Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad; y miembro del proyecto “Men in Care: Workplace support for caring masculinities”, financiado por la Comisión Europea dentro del programa European Progamme for Employment and Social innovation (EaSI, 2014-2020).

Juan-Ignacio Martínez-Pastor is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the Department of Sociology II (Social Structure) of the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED). He received his BA in Sociology from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid and his Ph.D from UNED, university in which he has been working since 2004. Between 2012 and 2013 he was the Head of the Research Department of the Centre for Sociological Research (Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas, CIS).

His researches have been published in reviews such as European Sociological Review, Demographic Research, International Journal of Comparative Sociology or Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies. His current research covers the effects of social class on employment and the erotic capital. He has also written informative works on how to interpret data and social statistics.

He has participated in 10 research projects. Currently he directs the project Reducing Structural Unemployment in Spain: Education and Employment, Labour Costs, Migrations, Welfare State and Family, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Business. He also participates in the project Men in Care: Workplace support for caring masculinities, funded by the European Commission (European Progamme for Employment and Social Innovation 2014-2020.
