Jacobo Muñoz Comet es Profesor Titular de Universidad en el Departamento de Sociología II (Estructura Social) de la UNED. Es doctor en Sociología con mención europea (UCM), licenciado en Sociología (UNED), y licenciado en Periodismo (UCM). Actualmente imparte docencia en los grados en Sociología, en Ciencia Política y de la Administración, y en Criminología, y en el máster universitario en Comunicación, Cultura, Sociedad y Política (UNED). Ha sido becario de Formación de Personal Investigador (FPI) del Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación. Desde su doctorado ha realizado estancias de investigación en el Departamento de Sociología de la VU Universidad de Amsterdam, MZES (Universidad de Mannheim), COMPAS (Universidad de Oxford), AIAS (UvA Universidad de Amsterdam) y AMCIS (UvA Universidad de Amsterdam). En 2014 fue ganador del VI ISA Worldwide Competition for Junior Sociologists, organizado por la Asociación Internacional de Sociología (ISA). Su investigación sobre la desigualdad social, el mercado de trabajo y la inmigración ha sido publicada en revistas como European Sociological Review, Work, Employment and Society, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, International Migration Review, Population Research and Policy Review, Comparative Migration Studies, y European Journal of Education. Tiene dos sexenios de investigación reconocidos por la CNEAI (último tramo: 2016-2021). En 2020 fue galardonado con el Premio UNED-Santander de Investigación, Trasferencia del Conocimiento y Divulgación (IV Edición). Desde 2018 es Secretario del Comité de Investigación CI-25 (Sociología de las Migraciones) de la Federación Española de Sociología (FES).

Jacobo Muñoz-Comet works as Associated Professor at the Department of Sociology II (Social Stratification) of UNED. He holds a PhD in Sociology (UCM), a BA in Sociology (UNED), and a BA in Journalism (UCM). He currently teaches in the Bachelor’s degrees of Sociology, Political Science and Administration, and Criminology, and in the Master’s degree in Communication, Culture, Society and Politics (UNED). He has held a FPI scholarship (predoctoral contract) awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. During his academic career, he has been a visiting researcher at the Department of Sociology of the VU University of Amsterdam, MZES (University of Mannheim), COMPAS (University of Oxford), AIAS (UvA University of Amsterdam) and AMCIS (UvA University of Amsterdam). In 2014 he won the VI ISA Worldwide Competition for Junior Sociologists, organized by the International Sociological Association (ISA). His research on social inequality, the labour market and immigration has been published in journals such as European Sociological Review, Work, Employment and Society, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Intenational Migration Review, Population Research and Policy Review, Comparative Migration Studies, and European Journal of Education. He has two (six-year) periods of research activity recognised by CNEAI (last period: 2016-2021). In 2020 he was awarded with the UNED-Santander Prize of Research, Transfer and Dissemination (4th edition). Since 2018 he has been Secretary of the Research Committee CI-25 (Sociology of Migrations) of the Spanish Federation of Sociology (FES).
