Catalunya<\/u><\/strong>(External link)<\/a><strong>\u00a0(UOC)<\/strong>\u00a0hosted a workshop on\u00a0<strong>\u201cThe SDGs and Local Challenges\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0on 14 October. The session brought together researchers, public institutions, companies, and social organizations to explore how universities can collaborate with local stakeholders to co-create solutions that address global and regional challenges.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This\u00a0<strong>OpenEU workshop<\/strong>\u00a0focused on how higher education can act as a driver for\u00a0<strong>social innovation<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0<strong>Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>\u00a0through open, collaborative research and innovation. Participants identified key priorities for building a fairer, more digital, and sustainable society \u2014 from improving access to quality education and promoting inclusive digital transformation, to advancing climate action and strengthening democracy and European values.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event also emphasized the importance of\u00a0<strong>shared agendas<\/strong>\u00a0between universities and social stakeholders to design policies and strategies that make knowledge a true engine of transformation.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As\u00a0<strong>Pastora Mart\u00ednez Samper<\/strong>, UOC\u2019s Commissioner for International Action and\u00a0<strong>OpenEU Coordinator<\/strong>, highlighted:<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOpenEU wants to pool the collective knowledge of our 10 universities and partners to tackle global challenges, while thinking and acting locally.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Organized by the\u00a0<strong>OpenEU Office at the UOC<\/strong>, in collaboration with the\u00a0<strong>Knowledge Transfer, Entrepreneurship and Open Science department<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0<strong>Alliances, Community and Equity department<\/strong>, the workshop forms part of\u00a0<strong>OpenEU\u2019s work on research and innovation in digital education<\/strong>.
