Each award will cover the cost of a sabbatical period at a university of the candidate\u2019s choice, worldwide,&nbsp;<strong>for the purpose of writing-up the candidate\u2019s existing research findings in the form of publishable articles and\/or a book<\/strong>. The proposed work should be completed under the guidance of a chosen mentor in the candidate\u2019s field of study. Funding is available for a period ranging between 3-9 months, and eligible research may cover any theme pertinent to a better understanding of urban realities in the Global South.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More information on previous International Fellows, and their research, can be found on the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/mail01.tinyletterapp.com\/usf\/international-fellowships-apply-now-1\/20666129-www.urbanstudiesfoundation.org\/about\/who-we-are\/?c=b5349778-6223-49b1-8788-512d7f8059b5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">USF website<\/a>&nbsp;(see International Fellows and alumni headings).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants must be early-to-mid career urban scholars with a PhD awarded within the preceding 10 years (by the submission deadline) who currently work in a university or other research institution within the Global South. Candidates must also be nationals of a country in the Global South,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/mail01.tinyletterapp.com\/usf\/international-fellowships-apply-now-1\/20666133-www.urbanstudiesfoundation.org\/funding\/international-fellowships\/?c=b5349778-6223-49b1-8788-512d7f8059b5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">defined as any country on the present OECD list of ODA recipients (2022).<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Requirements<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The candidate must make suitable arrangements to be mentored by a senior urban scholar at the candidate\u2019s chosen research institution.&nbsp;<strong>Eligible research institutions may be anywhere worldwide<\/strong>, and Fellowships based in Global South regions are equally encouraged. Guidelines for prospective mentors are also available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Terms<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The financial support attached to the fellowship will meet accommodation and subsistence needs while staying at the host university, return travel, and assistance towards some research costs. There is also a small budget available for the mentor to assist the Fellow to meet their intended research aims should this be appropriate. Short-listed candidates may also apply for a small supplemental grant if they have&nbsp;<strong>extra-ordinary costs arising during the Fellowship<\/strong>&nbsp;that result from either: (a)&nbsp;<strong>caring responsibilities for dependent persons (e.g. childcare)<\/strong>, or (b)&nbsp;<strong>disability<\/strong>. Fellowships should begin no earlier than July 2022, and no later than 1 year after the application deadline (i.e. by 9th May 2023). Candidates are normally expected to be notified of an outcome within eight weeks of the application deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to apply<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates must complete the online application form no later than&nbsp;<strong>9th May 2022<\/strong>&nbsp;(by 23:59 GMT, UK time).
