{"id":5049,"date":"2023-01-19T11:32:11","date_gmt":"2023-01-19T10:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.uned.es\/adenu\/?p=5049"},"modified":"2023-06-08T12:02:36","modified_gmt":"2023-06-08T10:02:36","slug":"humanaid-project-starts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uned.es\/adenu\/2023\/01\/19\/humanaid-project-starts\/","title":{"rendered":"HumanAID project starts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today we have had the kick-off meeting of HUManAID (<span class=\"written-lines\">HUMan-centered Assisted Intelligent Dynamic systems<\/span>). <span id=\"page25R_mcid1\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The project is articulated around<\/span> <strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">five multidisciplinary scenarios<\/span><\/strong> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">which are diverse in scope, needs,<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">devices and processing needs:<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(i)<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">self<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">learning in autonomous driving systems,<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(ii)<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">understanding the<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">student<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">cognitive<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">and emotional<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">needs within<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">intelli<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">gent<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">tutoring<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">systems,<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(iii)<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">sensing<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">online<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">collaborative learning,<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(iv)<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">improving psychomotor performance for motor skills acquisition, active<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">aging and rehabilitation, and<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(v)<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">training on the prevention of occupational hazards at work with<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">industrial machinery. Previous collaborations between the project partners have served<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">to establish<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">productive workflows that will contribute to this project\u2019s success.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page25R_mcid2\" class=\"markedContent\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"page25R_mcid2\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Five objectives (<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">each<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">deployed in<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">a<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">work package) have been defined to advance in the global<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">objective of the project, that is, an<\/span> <strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">intelligent and autonomous collaboration<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">between users and the<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">system<\/span><\/strong> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">enables a sustainable and trustworthy interaction over time that improves users\u2019 performance<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">and satisfaction as well as the level of autonomous functioning and adequacy of the system.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page25R_mcid3\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><span id=\"page25R_mcid4\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>We have reviewed the objectives of the project which are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span id=\"page25R_mcid4\" class=\"markedContent\"><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">O1<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Multimodal data capture<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">in diverse co<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">ntexts where user action is essential to tailor the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">response of the system in a non<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">intrusive way for the user while ensuring the quality of the results <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">and the scalability of the experiments.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page25R_mcid5\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><span id=\"page25R_mcid6\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span id=\"page25R_mcid6\" class=\"markedContent\"><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">O2<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Creation of<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">multimodal<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">models<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">adapted to each person\u2019s need<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">s<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">tasks<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">context with the ability <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">to generalize to unseen users using supervised, semi<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">supervised or unsupervised approaches to\u00a0 cope<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">with the labelling bottleneck.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page25R_mcid7\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><span id=\"page25R_mcid8\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span id=\"page25R_mcid8\" class=\"markedContent\"><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">O3<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Application of the developments in real environments<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">of formal user<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">system interaction,<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">e<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">nsuring the adequacy and adaptation of the models to changes in scenarios and<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">over<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">time, thus <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">increasing the range of actions in which the system, in<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">th<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">is<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">context, respond autonomously. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span id=\"page25R_mcid9\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><span id=\"page25R_mcid10\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><span id=\"page25R_mcid10\" class=\"markedContent\"><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">O4<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Design of indicators<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">that facilitate in various contexts the generation of a<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">responsive<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">framework<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">to the<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">person<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u2019<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">s<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">state in a comprehensive way, thus considering their mental and <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">operational factors by considering behavioural and mental<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">affective response variables.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page25R_mcid11\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><span id=\"page25R_mcid12\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span id=\"page25R_mcid12\" class=\"markedContent\"><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">O5<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">. Addres<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">s the impact and<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">ethical and socio<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">economic implications<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">of the development of the<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">hypotheses common to the various contexts, specified in the above<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">mentioned framework<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">,<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">which <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">allow solutions to be scaled up to various scenarios not initially<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">included<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">and<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">provide valuable<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">lessons learnt to the different bodies, such as industry, government, institutions, and human users.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We&#8217;ll keep posting the outcomes of this project.
