Antonio Roales Ruiz

Antonio Roales Ruiz holds a PhD in Translation from the Universidad de Salamanca and a degree in Translation and Interpreting from the Universidad de Granada (Spain). Since 1996, he has been combining his professional work as a translator and interpreter with university training for translators and interpreters. He has taught subjects in the areas of Technology Applied to Translation and Interpreting, Audiovisual Translation, Conference Interpreting, General Translation and Specialised Translation —among others— at the Universidad de Valladolid (Spain) and the Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio (Madrid, Spain) and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain), where he currently works as a lecturer. He has also taught in several master’s degree and postgraduate programmes at different universities, such as the Universidad Pablo de Olavide (Seville, Spain) or the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo (Santander, Spain).

He is one of the creators and teachers of El atril del traductor, a virtual translation teaching system, which is sponsored and financed by the Centro Virtual Cervantes (http://cvc.cervantes.es/aula/el_atril/).

His main research interests include Technologies Applied to Translation and Interpreting, and Audiovisual Translation, on which he has published several books, book chapters and journal articles, and delivered several seminars and speeches at Spanish, European and American universities.

His mother tongue is Spanish, and his working languages are French, Italian, Portuguese and English.
