Emmanuelle Gutiérrez Restrepo

aDeNu's Research and Development Manager of Accessibility Support, PhD. in Information Sciences, her thesis obtained the qualification of Cum Laude and Extraordinary Doctorate Award. Master of Communication in Society and Social Problems, Expert on Corporate Image and Communication, by the Complutense University of Madrid and Judicial Expert in Web Accessibility Expert Analysis by Euroinnova Business School.

Patron of the Sidar - Universal Access Foundation, is computer accessibility activist since 1995. She has developed, along with collaborators, applications for Web accessibility and materials and simulations for teaching web accessibility of international concern.  She is invited speaker at national and international conferences. Teaching coordinator of the accessibility subject in the Master in User Experience (UX) at Pompeu Fabra University. Director of TFM in the Master's Degree in Teacher Training in Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, Professional Training and Language Teaching; and the University Master's Degree in Educational Technology and Digital Competences, in which she also teaches the subject of social networks in education; both from UNIR. She has participated in 23 research projects, both national and international.

Participated in the Working Group for drafting the W3C-WAI’s  WCAG 1.0 in "Good standing", as well as for the version 2.0 drafting, She has been Invited Expert in the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Education and Outreach Working Group (EOWG) as in the Evaluation and Repair Tools Working Group (ERT WG) and currently take part in other groups.

Head of working group that focuses on Internet Accessibility for the Elderly and Disabled of the Spanish Association for Standardisation and Certification AENOR (GT3-SC8-CTN139), also participates as a member of the CTN 133/GT 3.

Member of the Internet Society Accessibility Standing Group (ISOC SG A11Y) and the Internet for Education Special Interest Group. She is also a member of the European Artificial Intelligence Alliance.

Old projects

  • Multimodal approaches for Affective Modelling in Inclusive Personalized Educational scenarios in intelligent Contexts (2012-2014) - Mamipec (TIN2011-29221-C03-01). She coordinates the accessibility tasks of the project.
  • Spanish Tematic Network of Linkded Data (2011-2012) - Red LinkedData (TIN-2010-10811-E). She shares experiences in the network and represent the aDeNu Group.
  • Curricular references with technological support for higher education schools in the areas of language, mathematics and science, to suppor people in context of diversity (2011-2013) - ALTER-NATIVA (DCI-ALA/2010/88). She coordinates the work package in the converging ICT and education (PT5) and is the coordinator of the project UNED Node.
  • Accessibility and Adaptation for ALL in Higher Education (2009-2011) - A2UN@ (TIN2008-06862-C04-00/TSI). Coordinates and supervises the work aimed at providing accessibility and adaptability.
  • Pilot Project for a Social Network for People with Intellectual Disabilities (2009-2011) - ACCEDO 2.0 (TSI-040200-2009-137). She coordinated the team of aDeNu in their participation in the project and development of the network accessible and user testing.
  • Accessibility for all in digital literacy (2008-2009) - ATODOS (PAV-020000-2007-171). In this project, shared his experience in accessible design personalised to provide ICT services to improve access to learning throughout life for the elderly and disabled.
  • Environments of Ambient Intelligence for the Labour Integration of Youth with Intellectual Disabilities (2008-2009) - AMI4Inclusion (TSI-020301-2008-21). In this project, in addition to coordinating the work of the team aDeNu within it, designed interaction interfaces and wireframes that would facilitate learning in the workplace for young people with intellectual disabilities. Also coordinated user testing.
  • Communities for Health and Independent Living Research (2008-2010) - CISVI (TSI-020301-2008-21). He coordinated the design and development work aimed at social innovation space (ESdI) centered favoring independent living of people with intellectual disabilities.
  • European Unified Approach for Assisted Life Long Learning (2006-2010) - EU4ALL (IST-2005-034778). Centering in building a service oriented architecture for higher education institutions that offers content personalization and psycho-pedagogical support in terms of instructional design guidelines in an inclusive way by modelling the accessibility preferences of the users and the device capabilities in a lifelong learning context where the users needs evolve over time. In this project she provided aDeNu team support, monitoring results of accessibility evaluation that took place teams from other universities and making recommendations to improve accessibility in the learning management system used by the UNED (dotLRN).
  • Accessible eLearning Platform for Europe (2007-2008) - ALPE (eTen-2005-029328). Coordinated assessment tasks and usability accesibiliad supported course management system dotLRN that were tested in Spain. Coordinated the overall assessment of the platform.
  • Adaptation based on machine learning, user modelling and planning for user oriented complex tasks (2006-2008) - ADAPTAPlan (TIN 2005-08945-C06-00). Follows the aLFanet approach but focuses on automating the authoring process of eLearning courses based on standards to reduce the design bottleneck and considers both the user features, the learning objects metadata and the device capabilities. ADeNu participation, in addition to coordinating the whole project, emphasized the user modeling and dynamic support standards-based education, and application of artificial intelligence techniques. The results were integrated into the platform dotLRN and evaluated according to their accessibility and usability, being at this point where she provided assistance.
